Create an Indian hair bun or two with short hair.
Indian hair is known worldwide for its beauty. According to Nicole Halmi of Lebanon Valley College, Indian women traditionally allow their hair to grow long and thick. An Indian hair bun is a common way women in India tie up their hair. In recent years, this style has been used in the Western world as well, albeit with shorter hair. Using a little hair product and a slightly different technique, you can wear one or two Indian hair buns with short hair. If your own hair is simply too short to hold in a bun, create an Indian hair bun using a wig or hair extensions.
Instructions
1. Mist hair with water. Part the hair in the center and comb back. Divide hair into two sections if necessary, allowing for at least two inches of length in each bun. If you are not able to gather at least two inches of your own hair in a ponytail holder, consider using the hair of a wig or hair extensions to create the same look.
2. Gather all of your hair or the hair of a wig into a ponytail holder two inches above the nape of the neck. Use two ponytails just above the nape of the neck for shorter hair. Spray with hair spray or hairstyling gel spray. Wrap each ponytail tightly.
3. Hold the ponytail with your right hand. Wrap the base of the ponytail around the index finger of your left hand creating a loop. Wrap the length of hair around the base of the loop.
4. Push the end of the ponytail into the ponytail holder. Push the loop around your index finger over the ponytail holder. Hold the Indian bun in place with hair spray and bobby pins. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 with the second ponytail if applicable.
Tips Warnings
Conceal the use of bobby pins by adding orange and white flowers around the bun.
