Although the Mazda 6 has many exceptional features, the design of the headlight compartment is not one of them. Getting access to the headlights is tricky because there is very little space to place your hands. You could remove the coolant reservoir and air box to free up room, or use caution and patience while you work in order to avoid dropping a clip or bulb. In either case, the actual process for removing the headlight is straightforward.
Instructions
1. Turn off your Mazda 6 and prop open the hood.
2. Look straight down behind the headlight assembly to find the cover protecting the headlight bulbs.
3. Depress the plastic clip on top of the cover and pull the cover gently away from the back of the headlight assembly. Press the clip down carefully since it is plastic and might break.
4. Reach through the open rear of the headlight assembly and pull the headlight socket directly out.
5. Pull the headlight out of the socket.
