The Cricut can be used to cut much more than basic scrapbook elements and paper crafts.
There are over 250 different Cricut cartridges on the market, each with their own template book of unique shapes and with capability of producing shadows, outlines, and multi-layered images. The creative possibilities with a Cricut machine are infinite. The designs in a Cricut cartridge don't have to be limited to the world of scrap booking. Substituting card stock with materials like adhesive, magnet paper and vinyls can open a whole new world of uses for the Cricut machine.
Adhesive Paper
Plain stickers will never be the same. Using adhesive paper in the Cricut can create detailed, die-cut stickers and labels. With some of the most popular cartridges like Disney and Pixar, kids' favorite movie characters can be turned into stickers. Seasonal cartridges can be used to create stickers to give away as treats for the holidays. Stickers can be cut on white paper and used as coloring projects, or multi-layered stickers can be cut into color adhesive to give the sticker image more dimension.
Vinyl
The Cricut machine can also cut into another type of sticker paper, vinyl, to create sticker decals around the house. Vinyl can easily be applied to window and mirror surfaces, interior walls, plastic organizational bins and more. Add vinyl text and images to a decorative picture frame or wood block gifts. In addition to its typical glossy finish, vinyl also comes in a chalkboard finish, so large decals can actually double as drawing spaces for kids.
Magnet
With the machine's deep cut blade, the Cricut can blaze through the thickest textiles, even magnet material. Use the stronger blade to create magnetic designs for any of the metal surfaces in your home. Cut refrigerator magnets to match the season, alphabet letters and numbers to spell out names and messages, or create magnetic whiteboard surfaces for schedules and grocery lists.
Cardstock
Outside of the typical scrap booking uses, card stock can be used to cut text and shapes for poster boards and school presentations. Interchangeable calendar pieces for the months or seasons can be used in home or classroom settings to aid in learning. Shaped tags can be used for gifts or organizational purposes throughout the house. Banners and garlands can be created by stringing text or images together on ribbon and hanging for decoration.
