Repair A Moen Chateau Shower Faucet

The Moen Chateau faucet line is repairable if a leak or some other issue with water flow and temperature occurs. By replacing the cartridge in the handle, you replace all the most vital and sensitive parts in the faucet prone to wear. This includes the seals and washers for hot and cold water, which often lead to leaking and temperature issues. The repair requires some basic handyman skills, but you do not need a plumber to solve this common household problem.

Instructions

1. Shut off both incoming water pipe valves under the sink.

2. Take off Moen Chateau's handle cap. Just use your fingers to remove this and then take out the screw underneath the cap with an Allen wrench. Slide the handle off the faucet base.

3. Unscrew the trim screws on either side of the faucet trim piece and take it off. Remove the stop tube kit with your hands.

4. Pry out the retainer clip sitting in the slot on top of the faucet cartridge with a pair of pliers. Pull the cartridge out of the faucet. Insert a new cartridge from your replacement kit.

5. Slide the retaining clip back into the slot on top of the cartridge. Put the stop tube kit back on and secure with the wrench to hold the cartridge in place. Put the handle back on. Replace and tighten the handle screw with an Allen wrench and then push the cap into place.
