Decorate A Small Bedroom With A Queen Bed & A Dresser

Decorate your small bedroom without clutter.

Decorating a small bedroom can be a daunting task if you have a queen-sized bed and a dresser to incorporate. Instead of simply placing your furniture anywhere in the room, apply an approach that helps make the room feel larger. In addition to positioning the furniture so it is appealing to the eye, also give the illusion that your room is larger than it actually is, which gives you peace of mind with less clutter.

Instructions

1. Position your bed in between two windows if your bedroom has them. This creates natural light and gives the illusion of more space.

2. Position the bed so the headboard is against a wall instead of in a diagonal direction. Placing the bed diagonally in your bedroom takes up additional space that can be used for your dresser or simply for floor space.

3. Place your queen bed in the corner of the room with no more than 1 inch of space between the wall and the side of the bed. Position your dresser against the other wall so the drawers open toward the bed. Although you have limited space on either side of the bed, you still have space in front to move around the room.

4. Position your queen bed so it is facing the doorway, and place the dresser beside the doorway so it is facing the foot of the bed. This provides you with walking room on both sides of the bed.

5. Place your dresser inside your walk-in closet to free up the space in the bedroom. This does not take away from your hanging clothes and adds more space for your queen bed.

6. Eliminate unnecessary clutter from the room entirely. For example, if you have a floor lamp in your bedroom but also have a light on the ceiling fan, put the lamp in another room and make use of the ceiling fan light.

7. Detach your footboard from your bed to create a feeling of openness in the bedroom.

8. Decorate the rest of the room with light-colored accessories that do not take up additional space. For instance, hang pictures on the wall with white frames.

9. Hang a large mirror on one of the empty walls. The mirror creates the appearance of a larger room.

10. Use a headboard that has a built-in shelf so you eliminate the need for a nightstand.
