If you love music, decorate your bedroom to reflect your musical tastes.
Set the tone for a musically-themed bedroom by using harmonious decorations that are in tune with each other. Themes pertaining to music are as varied as the styles of music. Matching the theme to your room requires a careful assessment of your preferred musical style. Country, rock, jazz and classical are just a handful of the musical styles on which to base your room's theme. Choosing your style and using decorative elements tied to it will make your finished bedroom sing.
Country
Country music has its niche particularly in rural areas around the country. Use a rural setting as inspiration for your bedroom décor. Lean a wooden guitar in a corner with a cowboy hat on top of the neck. If you will not be playing the guitar, purchase one from a thrift store. Decorate the walls with a large mural made of album covers from country music CDs or purchase old vinyl covers from a thrift store. Another way to decorate a country music bedroom wall is to cover an accent wall with a mural depicting a country setting, such as horses in a pasture, a farm or a rodeo. Look for murals made of wallpaper if you are not adept at painting.
Rock
Bring back the days of rock and roll in
Jazz
Create a cool environment for the enjoyment of the smooth sounds of jazz music. Decorate your room to look like a coffeehouse where jazz and poetry combine in perfect harmony. Decorate with dark colors on the walls and carpet. Add a cafe table and chairs in a corner. Hang posters depicting saxophones or famous jazz musicians, for example.
Classical
For a classical music-lover, decorate with a focus on the instruments used in an orchestra. Paint the walls white, and create a musical staff on one wall with five parallel lines of black paint. Draw musical notes on the staff, and don't forget the clef and meter at the start of the line. Copy out a favored line of music for the mural to customize the design. Do not just haphazardly paint on musical notes because a music-lover will be able to identify whether or not they are real notes or not. Cover the floor in front of the bed with a carpet runner featuring a keyboard design. Continue the black-and-white theme throughout the room and add plaster busts of famous classical musicians from an art store on the window ledge or bookshelves.
