Different curtain heights create different looks.
Hanging curtains is challenging work. The way a curtain hangs will alter the look of a room and will either pull the elements of a room together or make it seem like it isn't functional. In addition to the aesthetics of hanging curtains, the curtains also have to be functional. They should cover the window completely, with enough room on either side to push the curtains out of the way when necessary. Choose a curtain height that works for the type of curtain you have, the size of the window and the look you are trying to project.
Instructions
1. Hang your curtains at
2. Hang the curtains at the same height as the window. This will allow you to use more curtain length because it won't need to be as long as in the previous step. It is also easier to hang curtains in this manner because you don't have to reach as high, and you can install the hardware into the beam above the window.
3. Hang the curtains just above the window. This height is used if the curtains are just slightly too long to hang from the ceiling or if you are using tab curtains. Tab curtains need to be hung higher because they hang 1 or 2 inches lower than the bar before they start blocking light. If you have a wide decorative trim, you will also need to hang curtains above the window because you won't be able to screw into the support beam right above the window. Install the rod about 3 inches above the window.
