Creative Home Ideas For Boys Bedrooms

Creative Home Ideas for Boys Bedrooms

A boy's bedroom is more than just the place he falls asleep in every night. It is a room where he may spend time playing with favorite toys, reading books and looking at the spot that features his favorite sports team. A bedroom can be the place that allows a youngster to take the first steps toward developing interests and personality. To help foster an imaginative boy, you can design his room in a creative way.

Sports Theme

If your youngster has an interest in sports, help him build a sports-themed room. With four walls, you can dedicate one wall to baseball, one to football, one to basketball and one to ice hockey. For baseball, you might want to include pennants and pictures from his favorite team. If it's the Red Sox, you might want to include pictures of pitcher Josh Beckett and designated hitter David "Big Papi" Ortiz. In football, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Patriot quarterback Tom Brady are two of the best and most popular players in the game. Your basketball wall may include LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. Perhaps your hockey wall could include all-time greats like Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr along with current superstar Sidney Crosby of the Penguins. Pictures, pennants, artifacts and souvenirs should highlight the walls.

Railroad Theme

Many boys have a fascination with trains that lasts many years. One of the most interesting things you can add to a room is a "Busy Town" train rug that allows a boy to make a train track layout. Pictures of older and more modern trains can adorn the walls, and you can put train wallpaper on the walls. A train-based alarm clock can be a fixture in the room; so can a bed that looks like an old-fashioned train sleeper car.

Superheroes Theme

Many boys find themselves drawn to superheroes like Superman and Batman. Those two comic book and TV heroes can be the centerpieces in your boy's bedroom. You can put up a Superman wall that shows the Man of Steel flying over the city of Metropolis. You can put up a painting of Batman's batmobile on one of the other walls. Put Superman bedding on your boy's bed, and don't forget your Batman alarm clock. Throw in a Spider-Man graphic from Fathead for one of the walls if your boy likes the comic strip character. While a boy's fascination with superheroes is likely to wane by the age of 12 or 13, it can be a theme that matters to the boy for three or four years.
