Reduce Germs In A Bathroom







The bathroom is often the first front of the war against germs, and you may need to take daily actions to keep it clean. From mold in the tub caused by an excessively moist environment to bacteria in the toilet, there are many areas to take into consideration. Cleaners are just one way to clean a bathroom. There are also simple habits that can help you keep reduce the amount of germs in your bathroom.

1. Run the exhaust fan when showering or bathing. This will help circulate the moist air out of the bathroom after any shower or bath. Moisture from bathing in a shower or bathtub can contribute to the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. If the bathroom does not have an exhaust fan, consider installing one.


2. Towel dry the tub and shower after bathing. Removing any extra moisture will help reduce the germs in your bathroom.


3. Spray mold and mildew remover on your tub after taking a bath or shower. These cleaners will inhibit the growth of bacteria. Keep the cleaner handy in a bathroom closet so you don't forget to apply it after each shower.


4. Keep antibacterial soap in your soap tray. Leave paper towels out for the drying of hands instead of cloth towels. Germs can be spread from person to person on cloth towels.


5. If you prefer to use cloth towels instead of paper towels, you wash the cloth towels in hot water after each day's use.


6. Use very warm water and soap to wash your hands after using the toilet. Sing the "happy birthday" song twice while soaping your hands, then rinse with warm water. This method ensures you have sufficiently killed the germs on your hands.


7. Flush the toilet with the lid down. Germs can become airborne after flushing.


8. Wipe down high-touch areas with a disinfectant towelette at the conclusion of each day. You may not be able to clean after each use of the bathroom, so setting a schedule of cleaning at the conclusion of each day can be helpful.


9. Use paper cups instead of a ceramic cup for rinsing or drinking in the bathroom. Germs can linger on the lip of the cup and be spread to other users.
