Decorating a dining room with a theme can be a fun way of expressing yourself. American themes are fairly common for dining rooms and can be achieved in different ways. There is no shortage of items available in American colors, and there are various items that tie in with the country or its history. Decorating a dining room with an American theme can be done with a minimal amount of planning.
Instructions
1. Fill your with furniture made of cherry wood, which can be used in Americana-style decorating.
2. Cover your dining room table with a red, white and blue tablecloth. There are tablecloths available that are colored exactly like an American flag, or you can use a table cloth of one color and accentuate it with cloth napkins colored as the other two.
3. Lay down a floor rug that fits the red, white and blue color-scheme.
4. Place decorative plates down at each place setting. These plates can either fit the American color scheme or they can have images on them that fit an American theme, such as eagles or former president's faces.
5. Hang photos in colored picture frames or hang images from American history, such as paintings of the Founding Fathers or a copy of the U.S. Constitution.
