Design Boys' Bedrooms
When your baby boy grows up, his bedroom needs to grow with him. Designing his new bedroom can be a fun project for both of you. The possibilities are endless, and when designing a fun room for your special boy, the creative juices will flow. Using colors and accessories, you can instantly transform the nursery or any other room into a kid-approved boys bedroom.
Instructions
1. Choose a theme or color scheme for the room. Inspiration for decorating boys' rooms can come from anywhere. Typically, boys' bedrooms are decorated in shades of blue or green. When deciding on a theme or for the room, consider his favorite sports teams, cartoons, colors or animals.
2. Paint the room. Painting walls will instantly transform any room. Add a creative touch by painting footballs, baseballs and other equipment for a sports fan, or anything else your boy may be interested in. Before painting be sure to lay down a tarp to protect your flooring.
3. Purchase furniture. Most boys are more concerned with playing than what their furniture looks like, so get the basics. You will typically need a bed, nightstand, bookcase, toy box, dresser or chest, and a small activity table. Keep with the theme of the room. If you are decorating with an outer space theme, look for futuristic styles in furniture.
4. Find coordinating bedding and curtains. Look for colors that fit into your color scheme but contrast with the color of the paint. If you don't see any bedding that you like, try making your own by visiting your local fabric store. Buy NFL-licensed fabric to create custom curtains featuring his favorite team.
5. Accessorize the room. Start with an area rug in the middle of the room to protect the flooring. If you are decorating with a car theme, find a rug with a street pattern; the carpet will double as a play area for his toy cars.
