A clog in a bathroom sink can easily set you off schedule if you were planning on using it. If you have a dual sink and the other is not clogged, then at least you have one available to use, and you can address the clog later if you don't have time at that moment. You also have the added benefit of knowing that if the clog is isolated to one sink, it is not deeply seated in the drain pipes. A shallow-seated sink clog can usually be cleared with a plunger.
Instructions
1. Plug the drain in the sink that is not clogged. Make sure the drain is sealed tight. Plug any overflow valves for both sinks with a dry rag.
2. Run a couple of inches of water in the clogged sink. Place old towels around the sink to make cleanup easier.
3. Place a plunger over the drain in the clogged sink and plunge the drain several times.
4. Run hot water in the sink to see if you've removed the clog. If the clog still exists, ensure the other drain and overflow valves are tightly sealed, and plunge the sink drain again.
