Coming up with a good interior design for your dining room is daunting, but online 3D makes it easy and fun. These programs give you a limited number of paints, fabrics, finishes, architectural details and furnishings, but do provide the opportunity to try out different designs before you head to the store. Several programs offer free trials or allow you to use the software online for a minimal charge per month. Something to consider when designing your room, is how it looks as it flows into adjoining spaces. Colors, patters and styles look best when compatible.
Instructions
1. Measure the dining room noting length, height and width of the space as well as the size and location of all doors, windows, archways and fireplaces.
2. Download, install and open the 3D design software of your choice. Open the program and start with a room the dimensions of the dining room your are designing. Add doors, windows, etc. in the proper positions; these may vary from their current locations if you are remodeling.
3. Apply wall surfaces and colors, flooring, area rugs, table, chairs, china closets, sideboards, lighting, table linens, tableware, artwork and miscellaneous decorative items. Most programs make this easy by allowing you to drag and drop items into your room. Experiment until you have the look you like.
4. Save your design and print it out, along with a list of supplies, for future reference.
