Install Bathroom Sinks In Granite Countertops

Granite tops are cut to accommodate the sink at time of fabrication.

Granite countertops can make a great addition to any bathroom design. One of the benefits of using granite on your vanity is the ability to under-mount or attach a sink to the underside of the stone. This provides both a clean appearance and the ability to push debris from the counter directly into the sink with no rim obstructing and catching the debris. Bathroom sinks are relatively light and can be attached to granite with silicone adhesive. No clips or screws are required.

Instructions

1. Turn the granite top upside down on a flat surface. Wipe the underside of the granite around the sink bowl cutout with a dust cloth to remove any dirt or debris that could interfere with the installation of the sink.

2. Place the sink rim down on the underside of the granite top and line it up evenly with the four sides of the granite. Trace a line around the perimeter of the sink with a grease pencil to mark the location.

3. Remove the sink from the granite and set it aside. Squeeze a thin line of silicone caulk adhesive between the edge of the sink cutout and the grease pencil line on the granite. The weight of the sink will compress the adhesive; a thin line in the center of the rim area is sufficient.

4. Line up the rim of the sink with the grease pencil mark on the granite and lower it into place. Press firmly on each side of the sink to adhere it securely. Allow the sink to dry in place on the granite overnight before installing the vanity top to the vanity.
