Hang Bedroom Curtains

Hanging bedroom curtains is a simple process.

Bedroom curtains are hung for decoration and, in most cases, to block light. Many bedroom curtains are floor length to provide the maximum blockage of outside light from street lamps and car lights. Hanging bedroom curtains is a simple process that should not take longer than one morning or afternoon to complete.

Instructions

1. Determine where to hang the curtain rods. Typically, rods are hung just above the top window bracket or between 1 and 3 inches above the top of the window itself. Place a pencil mark at each end of the window where you want to hang the brackets. Make sure the marks are at the same distance from the top of the window.

2. Stand on the stepladder. Hold one bracket over the pencil mark. Use the power screwdriver to screw the screws into the wall, holding the bracket in place. Repeat for any other screw slots. Hang the bracket on the other side of the window. If necessary, add a third bracket in the center of the window. This is usually only necessary for windows wider than 30 inches.

3. Place the rod on the brackets. Measure the distance from the rod to the floor. Hem your curtain if it is longer than the measurement.

4. Take the rod off of the brackets. Thread the rod through the curtain hole. Usually there are two separate holes; one is at the very top of the curtain, and the second is just below the first one. If you hang the rod through the top hole, the curtain will have no ruffle top. If you hang it though the second hole, then the curtain will have a ruffled top.

5. Put the rod, now holding the curtains, back on the brackets. Screw the curtain tiebacks, if you use them, about halfway up the wall next to the window.
