Ideas For Beautiful Bedrooms

Neutral shades always work well in the bedroom.

Your bedroom is your private sanctuary where you can rest and rejuvenate your body for the day ahead. Create a space that's all your own by featuring your favorite colors, fabrics and decor. A stunning bedroom is often romantic with silk bedding, lacy curtains and other accents such as an old-fashioned wall mounted mirror or potpourri filled vases.

Pastels Paired with Dark Accents

Blue and purple are both soothing colors that help you to feel relaxed. Paint your walls light purple with blue accents such as small blue flowers along the border. Leave your ceiling white. Choose fabrics that are a few shades darker than the walls to add drama. Deep plum bedding stands out against light pastel purple walls. Several types of furniture styles work well this color scheme. You can select rich cherry wood furnishings and a canopy bed for a more romantic look. However, if you would like a country cottage look, choose white furniture. Decorate your walls with framed photos to match the color of wood in the room.

Simple and Elegant

If you prefer a more earthy look, choose neutral shades such as beige or light peach. Paint all the walls one neutral color and leave the ceiling white. Install white crown molding along the border of the room. Choose dark cherry wood furniture to contrast with the walls and hang pictures with wood frames that match your furniture selection. Dark rich bedding in colors such as burgundy or forest green work well in this type of room. Select dark brown or plum curtains to hang on the windows as well.

Large Accent Wall

Select one wall in the room as your accent wall to paint a dark color such as forest green or burgundy. Leave the other walls white. Align your bed in the middle of your accent wall and select three romantic paintings of roses, flowers or landscapes to feature on the wall. Place the framed pictures in a row together on the wall above the bed. Decorate the other walls with framed family photos or wall mounted mirrors.

Decorating with Red

Red is a dramatic color, but it looks stylish in bedrooms when paired with lighter colors. If you love red, choose one large wall to paint red. Use light colored white wooden frames to hang pictures on the wall and select lighter bedding such as white or even pink. Pink and red go nicely together, but too much of one color is overwhelming.
