Decorate A Bedroom For Summer

Summer is such a fun season --- why not think about it morning and night? You can do that easily by decorating your bedroom with a warm-weather theme. Start with the main element --- the bed --- and have a blast selecting the three S's: sheets, shams and spread. Then proceed to lighting and other accessories, and enjoy sweet summertime dreams.

Instructions

Decorate a Bedroom for Summer

1. Brighten your bed with the colors and patterns of summer. You can find cheerful stripes and floral prints in seasonal tones such as popcorn yellow and honeysuckle pink. A nautical theme is also fun --- think seashells, fish and sailboats. Don't go overboard with patterns though --- for instance, use solid sheets with a floral sham and bedspread.

2. Introduce accessories that echo the theme of your bedding. If your spread is decorated with a beach scene, add a fun shell-covered box or bowl to your bedside table. If you use floral sheets, pick up that look with a vase of flowers in complimentary colors.

3. Buy decorative lighting with a summer motif. Enliven your windows with string lights in the shape of flamingos, margarita glasses or palm trees. Hang paper lanterns in summery colors and patterns.

4. Put candles in summer-themed candleholders. You can pick from all kinds of motifs, including flip flops, surfboards, palm trees and sailboats. The candlelight will add a romantic touch, and the container will make you chuckle.
