Boy Bathroom Ideas

When decorating a boy's bathroom, take a cue from the child and use his interests as inspiration for your design plan. Use colors, styles and creative storage solutions that play on the theme, and add accessories that tie it together. A little imagination can go a long way in creating a fun and beautiful bathroom.

Sports Bathroom

Decorate the bathroom revolving around your son's favorite sport. Use his favorite team's colors to select paint, shower curtains, towels and bath mats.

Use sports equipment in an unusual way. Convert a baseball bat into a towel rack. Hang a basketball hoop hamper over the door. Screw football helmets into the wall, upside-down, to create holders for bath toys, grooming supplies and rolled up wash cloths.

Include souvenirs from games he's attended. Use souvenir cups to hold tooth brushes and hang pennants and foam fingers on the wall. Frame and hang posters of his favorite players.

Cars Bathroom

Start with a black-and-white checkered floor and white walls. Hang black shelves and include chrome fixtures.

Hang road signs and hub caps on the walls. Put model cars on the shelves. Find car-themed bathroom accessories, such as soap dishes, toothbrush holders, drinking cups and shower curtains.

Get a black bath mat and use yellow fabric paint to paint a line down the center like a road.

Pirate Theme

Lay vinyl flooring that resembles wood. Paint the walls blue, like the sky or ocean. If shopping for a vanity or cabinetry, select rustic-looking wood. Also select rusting-looking fixtures.

Hang wooden shelves and use pirate cups to hold small items on them. Use wooden peg racks to hold robes or clothes.

Get a black shower curtain and turn it into a Jolly Roger flag with a large skull and crossbones. If it is a fabric curtain, use fabric paint. If it's a plastic curtain, cut out the design from contact paper and stick it to the front of the curtain. Alternately, get a cloth off-white shower curtain and hand-paint a treasure map on it with fabric paints.

Hang a ship's steering wheel on the wall as a decoration. Hang some fishing net around the room. Use a large toy treasure chest as a clothes hamper, or a smaller one to hold supplies like bubble bath, soap and shampoo.

Get a hanging parrot's perch from a pet shop and hang it from the ceiling. Glue or tie a toy parrot to sit on the perch.
