Dining Room Decor & Accessories

Adding accents to the walls and table of your dining room will customize the space.

If you've just moved into a new home, or simply want to spruce up the house with new decor and accessories, you can start with the dining room. You can make a number of small changes in your dining room to make the space much more inviting.

Wall Decor

Add a large, professionally framed decorative portrait to the main wall of the dining room so that it can be the focal piece of the room. Or, hang a mirror framed in the main color of the dining room space to make the space seem a little wider.

Centerpieces

Use your favorite flowers or plants for the dining room table centerpiece. During the spring and summer months, use a clear glass or gold vase to house a bouquet of sunflowers or daisies. For fall and winter dining room decor, display a decorative dish filled with potpourri, or add pinecones, cattails and ferns to your flower arrangement.

Place Settings

Make your place settings part of the table decor by using your favorite colors and designs. If your dining room space is mainly red, use charger plates in a deep shade of red, and accent it with cloth napkins, cups and saucers in a slightly lighter hue. Add accents like silver napkin rings and eating utensils to create vibrant and classy place settings.
