Cool Ideas For Bedroom Decorations

Bedrooms can be the rooms in your home that are the most fun to decorate. You don't have to worry too much about what guests will think of your decorating flair because they aren't seen much by visitors. This makes it much easier for you to relax and have some fun when you decorate your bedrooms. Let your cool personality shine through as you make your bedrooms places you truly like and will enjoy.

Nurseries

Paint the walls a soft pastel color. Yellows, greens and creams will work well for boys or girls. Use stuffed animals as wall art to add visual interest, depth and texture to the nursery walls. Stencil nursery rhymes, letters, numbers and shapes to the walls. Place family photos on floating shelves around the room.

Preschoolers

Stencil letters, numbers and shapes to the walls of a preschooler's bedroom to create a fun learning environment. Place a wall border at or just above the eye level of the preschooler. Use child-sized furniture painted in fun, vivid colors. Create different areas of the room for specific activities. Place a small table with chairs in one area to serve as both an art and reading area. Designate another area as a play area where toys are stored and easily accessed by the preschooler.

Tweens

Use photos, pictures and posters of your tween's favorite singers, movie stars and athletes as wall art. Create a study area with a completely functional desk. Allow your tween to add wall decals to her walls and furniture to give her a sense of autonomy and allow her to discover her own decorating style. Keep bedding simple. Provide your tween plenty of storage that can also serve as additional seating for her friends. Hollow ottomans and benches work well as both storage and seating.

Adults

Choose a theme for your bedroom. Use larger pieces of furniture. This will take up less space than several smaller pieces. Paint the walls a neutral, relaxing color that is easily coordinated with other accessories. Try faux painting techniques to add texture, depth and dimension to the walls of your bedroom. Spice up a plain bedroom with animal-print window treatments or dark, gothiclike bedding. Use different colored light bulbs to help set different moods for your bedroom.

Guests

Create a warm and welcoming bedroom for your guests. Place a welcome basket on a dresser or bureau with often forgotten items such as toothbrushes, soaps and shampoos. Place a recliner or other comfortable chair in one corner of the guest bedroom. Keep the bedding, accessories and colors simple. Place additional lamps with frosted, low-watt bulbs to provide your guests with soft lighting.
