Arrange A Toddler'S Bedroom

Help your toddler feel safe and comfortable with a well-arranged bedroom.

Your toddler's bedroom is a place of play and rest, but it needs to be one of the safest areas in your home as it will be the only place she will be left unsupervised as she sleeps. Keep your toddler's needs in mind as you arrange her bedroom, maximize the space you have and also consider how you use the room as you go about your daily routine with your child.

Instructions

1. Place your toddler's crib or bed against a wall but away from the windows. An interior wall will help with outside noise, and if the bed is away from the windows you won't have to worry about your little one standing on his bed and pulling down curtains or playing with blinds.

2. Place your toddler's changing table, if you are still using it, and his dresser against the opposite wall. Keep the dresser within arm's reach so you can use the changing table to dress him each morning as well. It also comes in handy after bath time. A shelf hung above the changing table also offers additional easy-to-reach storage space.

3. Add a laundry hamper near the changing table or dresser. Keep it nearby so that you don't have to leave your child or take him with you to toss his dirty clothes in the hamper.

4. In a corner of the room, next to the bed, set up a small play area. A small bookshelf or other shelving unit makes a great organizer for her toys and books. Keep it close to the ground so that she can get to her things easily.

5. Anchor his furniture, such as the dresser and the bookcase, to the walls with brackets. They are often provided with the hardware that comes with your furniture, but you can also purchase L-shaped brackets from hardware stores.
