Common Bathroom Colors

The color of your bathroom will set the tone for your day.

You might think it is not that important what color your bathroom is, but since you spend a good amount of time there every day, choosing the right color could transform it into your favorite retreat. The colors in your bathroom will set the mood for the remainder of the day, since your body reacts physically and emotionally to different colors. Look at the most common colors used in bathrooms today.

Blue

Blue is calming.

Blue is usually associated with the sea and sky, and it has a calming effect. There are many different shades of blue: cinder blue is a gray or silver blue; deep arctic is a dusty navy; and ocean cruise is a tropical pastel blue. Almost any other color can be used with blue as an accent, but use it sparingly. Blue can also make a small bathroom look larger and is the most common bathroom color.

Peach

Peach reflects your skin well.

Since you shave and put on makeup in your bathroom, peach is an excellent color, because it provides a good reflection for your skin. Peach tones make the bathroom feel cozy and warm. It is reminiscent of a cottage. Yellow, apricot, and cream can be used with peach, as long as they are not too intense. Remember that these colors tend to make a room look smaller. You could also use chocolate accents or different shades of brown for tiles and flooring.

Green

Green is nature's favorite color.

Greens are a common choice in bathrooms. Green is physically invigorating but psychologically restful because of its association with nature. Using a monochromatic scheme will bring a soothing and elegant feeling to your bathroom, while using contrasting colors will give the room a bold, vibrant look. You can choose a shade of green that gives your bathroom a feeling of a spa. Bring in some plants as accents to make your bathroom feel more inviting and alive.
