Steampunk is a relatively new subgenre of science fiction that combines elements of Victorian design, technology, lots of gears, steam power and. frequently. alternate history presentations. Steampunk airships generally are dirigibles or balloons with a blend of futuristic elements and old-fashioned designs. Decorate a bedroom in airship steampunk by combining Victorian elements, secondhand finds, lots of metal and gears, and designs that have a futuristic look. Steampunk lends itself to a very personalized, creative look with no rigid rules or elements, just a generally imaginative, mechanical and fantasy style.
Instructions
1. Scour secondhand shops for leather steamer trunks, old-fashioned cameras, binoculars or navigational equipment, and anything with a lot of metal that looks old-fashioned. Use trunks for storage and display other items on shelves.
2. Fill a bookcase with old hardcover books. Use antique clocks as bookends.
3. Choose furniture in dark wood. Brass or copper trim is popular in steampunk.
4. Hang old maps on your walls along with posters with steampunk images.
5. Pick bedding in a muted, neutral palette. Brown, cream, dark red and black are commonly used in steampunk. Velvet and satin have a Victorian feel.
6. Write out bills or study at a rolltop desk. An antique chair is the perfect steampunk companion.
7. Hang a dirigible or steampunk airship model from your ceiling.
