1. Paint the walls in a color that creates an easy work and sleep environment. A neutral wall allows you to add color through accessories, while one bright and bold wall can serve as an accent wall to draw your attention to one specific area of the room.
2. Place furniture in a way that makes the room easy to navigate. Office furniture, such as a computer cabinet or armoire provides quick and easy access to your office equipment, making it unobtrusive to the decor when you're not working. Smaller beds, such as daybeds or sofa beds, can be placed against the opposite wall in a guest room. The furniture should also match in wood, stain, color and style for a seamless look.
3. Add storage furniture for and bedroom needs. Papers and office supplies can be stored in a computer cabinet, desk drawers or in decorative boxes on shelves. Linens, clothes or other bedroom items can be stored in under-the-bed storage containers, trunks, chests, night stands or a closet.
4. Separate your workspace from the bedroom area with a folding screen, open bookcase or by utilizing smart furniture, such as a computer armoire, to contain office related items.
5. Accessorize the room with proper lighting, rugs, artwork or pictures, candles, flowers, houseplants, pillows or other decorative pieces. Use shelves to hold decorative items, baskets and storage boxes.
