Decorate your bedroom with colors inspired by a beach sunset.
Whether you live at the beach or simply love vacationing there, consider transforming your bedroom to look like a beach during a sunset. Use the colors that are typically found during a beach sunset to decorate the room so that it has the same feel as early evening on the coast. This look is achievable on a limited budget, as none of the elements should be fancy. Make some of the decor yourself to save on costs and give the room a more personal touch.
Instructions
1. Choose a focal wall that you will use for a beach sunset mural. This wall should not be the wall against which the bed will be placed. It should also ideally be free of windows.
2. Paint a beach sunset mural onto the wall, or hire an artist to do so. Choose colors that are typically found during a beach sunset, such as oranges, reds and pinks. Paint a bright yellow sun dropping into a deep blue ocean.
3. Paint the rest of the walls a blue-gray color that will mimic the rest of the night sky as the sun is going down over the beach. If you would prefer a paler color, select a shade of tan that will look like the beach's sand.
4. Place furniture made with distressed wood in the bedroom. Wicker furniture is another good choice. Choose a type of furniture that looks antique or vintage. It should also not be dark or stained wood, as this takes away from the beach sunset theme.
5. Place transparent drapes against the windows. This will allow more natural light to filter into the room, giving the room a glow similar to that of a beach at sunset.
6. Choose linens for the bed that coordinate with the shades that you chose for your sunset mural. Consider a solid-colored comforter and pillows so that the room does not become overwhelmed with color, as the mural is already likely quite bright.
7. Add decorative touches to the room, such as framed pictures of sunsets on the wall opposite the mural, lamps with neutral shades and bowls of sea shells.
