A bedroom needs a calm and peaceful ambiance for rest and relaxation. Consider the traffic pattern and the way you will use a bedroom as you arrange the furniture. Arrange a bedroom set in relation to a balcony to create an easy access to the doorway. With attention to details, your bedroom will flow easily and you can enjoy spending time in this room.
Instructions
1. Assess the bedroom for the doorways that create the of the room. Include the balcony, room and closet doorways when considering the traffic pattern of the bedroom.
2. Consider other immovable objects in the room that affect furniture placement. Windows and built-in bookcases determine where you can place furniture.
3. Place the bed in the room first since it is the largest piece of furniture. Select wall space that is large enough for the head of the bed and that enables you to walk around all three sides of the bed easily. For example, if the doorway to the bedroom and the balcony doorway are on the opposite walls, place the head of the bed on either adjacent wall to enable the traffic pattern to proceed around the foot of the bed to the balcony.
4. Place bedside tables beside the bed to the left and right, if desired.
5. Add the next largest furniture pieces next -- dressers and chairs, for example. Place dressers against the walls or inside closets. Add chairs and a side table in a corner to create a small sitting area. If the balcony door swings into the bedroom, leave the area behind empty.
6. Finish the arrangement by adding small accessories such as a coat tree or plants in plant stands.
