Beautiful Bedroom Colors

Enjoy your bedroom more by using a beautiful color scheme.

Beautiful bedroom decor evokes the sense of coziness in your personal haven. If your bedroom is looking a little dull, a makeover may be due. Incorporate your personality into the room with striking bedroom colors. Invigorate your room by changing the colors instead of doing a complete overhaul.

Blue and Manila

Bring tranquility into your bedroom with the colors of blue and manila. With blue you can imagine the beach right inside of your bedroom. Choose shades such as cerulean, sky and ocean blues. Manilas and creamy whites support the relaxing feel of the blue without overpowering it. Or, flip it, and let manila be the main color. "An all-white palette accented with delicate shades of sea blue give accessories a chance to shine," suggests "Coastal Living." Decor can include small accents of darker blues like cobalt, navy and slate.

Purples and Golds

Purples and golds represent royalty and luxury. However, these colors look gaudy or like Mardi Gras if done improperly. The key is to pick serene forms of these colors for the bedroom. For example, try lavender and pale gold. Or, go for a darker berry purple and bronze. Just avoid shiny or loud shades. Darice Case at "Good Housekeeping" suggests, "Paint your walls a light shade of purple, then accessorize with throw pillows that highlight the hue." You want just enough color to make the room pop. Use gold as a centerpiece or as an accent color.

Green and Browns

Greens and browns may not seem like an ideal combo, but they actually complement each other. Sea green and wicker brown work well in a nature-inspired room. Mint green with a coffee brown will offer a stylish appearance for the bedding and curtains. Other combos include forest green with a light brown, or select green mixed with varying shades of chocolate. Use wooden furniture in your bedroom as the base for the color scheme. If you are still unsure about green, use it sparingly throughout the room. "One way to try green without a lot of commitment---curtains," states Samantha Shook in "Country Living."
