Make Curtains For Teenage Bedrooms

Curtains can add the finishing touch to a teen's room. When you make your own curtains, you can create something that matches the room and the teen's personality. The type of fabric you choose will be the most important element. The curtains can hang to the floor or end at the window level depending on the type of window, where it sits in the room, and the look you are trying to achieve. If the window is fairly low to the ground, allowing the curtain to hang to the ground is best.

Instructions

1. Choose fabric that reflects your teenager's favorite sports team, personality or favorite pastime. Some girls may like curtains with peace symbols and hearts, while certain guys may appreciate curtains that have video game characters on them.

2. Print digital photos on printable fabric sheets to create custom curtains that highlight the things your child wants to look at the most. The photos you choose might include friends, favorite vacations spots or important moments in your child's life. You can applique the material onto the curtains to create a patchwork-style curtain.

3. Attach clear vinyl or plastic pouches, sized to hold photos, to solid-colored curtains. This allows your teen to change out the photos as her interests change over time. Your teen can also put study cards or artwork in the pouches.

4. Embroider flowers or hearts onto sheer curtains for a girl's room. This is good match for an elegant or sophisticated teen girl's room. This may take time, but if your daughter is interested in embroidery, she can help complete the task.

5. Sew together pendants from the sports teams of your child's favorite sports, and turn these into curtains. You may want to create two pieces that are identical to make two panels for the window. This pattern may be a bit busy, but it will complement a room that is dedicated to a specific sport such as baseball or football.
