Build A Bathroom Magazine Rack

You can use free-standing towel bar stands if you have the space.

Many people wish there was a place to store reading material in their bathroom. Face it, everyone needs a distraction from the business of their bodily functions from time to time. But, bathrooms are usually small and compact with very little floor space for a traditional magazine rack. The answer is something that hangs on the wall but is shallow enough not to eat up much interior space. A towel bar magazine rack requires minimal space and can be installed by even the most novice do-it-yourselfer.

Instructions

1. Install the magazine rack on a wall or other location with plenty of empty space. Make sure the rack will not block the bathroom door if it opens into the room.

2. Mark the wall where the ends of the first towel bar will be located. Use a level to guide you so the bar will be straight. Drill one toggle anchor into the wall over the first mark until the anchor is flush with the wall.

3. Install the first towel bar mount to the anchor. Make sure the mount fits tightly against the anchor. Sink the second toggle anchor over the mark at the opposite end and install the second towel bar mount.

4. Attach the crosspiece to the mounts to complete the first towel bar. Add one or two more towel bars for additional space for magazines. Frame around the towel racks with picture frame molding for a more substantial look and drape opened magazines over the bars of your new rack.
