Paint Color Ideas For A Bedroom

Bedroom painted in a neutral gold color

There are many things to consider when choosing a wall color for the bedroom. It can seem overwhelming to choose a paint color, especially since there are hundreds of options to choose from. By keeping a few guidelines in mind, choosing a bedroom paint color can be an easy process.

Pale Hues

If you want color on your bedroom walls other than the standard white or off-white, yet you don't want a bright color, a pale or muted hue is your best bet. Blue is popular in bedrooms because it is a calming color--try pale aqua, light sky blue, periwinkle or light aquamarine. Other pale hues to consider include sage, lavender, pale yellow and light rose.

Bright Colors

Choosing bold, bright colors for the bedroom is not recommended because these colors can be overstimulating. But if you are set on having bold-colored walls, make sure that your furniture and decorations aren't as bright so you can maintain balance. If your bedroom is on the smaller size, avoid dark and deep shades.

Some popular bold and bright bedroom paint colors: eggplant, plum, deep red, cobalt blue, bright teal, amethyst and mocha.

Neutrals

Neutral colors are most common in bedrooms, but they don't have to be boring. There are many advantages to using a neutral bedroom paint color, including the ability to easily switch up decor without having to worry about whether the new decor matches your bedroom walls.

Neutral paint colors include tans, light and medium browns, matte and metallic gold, ecru, eggshell, buttery yellows and shades of gray.
