Super Hero Bedroom Ideas

Super Hero Bedroom Ideas

Superheroes rank high on the lists of many kids when it comes to favorite toys. Those same heroes provide lots of inspiration for a themed bedroom. The superhero theme is flexible because there are so many heroes to choose from. Whether your child is obsessed with only one hero or loves them all, you can incorporate them into all aspects of the room decoration.

Color Scheme

The colors from the costume of your child's favorite superhero make a logical choice for the room's color scheme. For example, a Captain America room lends itself well to a red, white and blue palette. If you're including several superheroes in the room, look for common colors that all of them use in their costumes. Another option is to pick a color from each hero, making sure the selected colors work well together. Use the color scheme for the paint colors, bedding, curtains and other details in the room.

Superhero Symbols

Most superheroes are known by a particular symbol. Batman has his bat signal, Superman has the giant S on his chest and Captain America has a star on his shield. Whether the superhero bedroom focuses on your child's favorite hero or several of them, the associated symbols make a good inspiration for a wall mural. An overhead projector allows you to project an image of the symbol on the wall so you can trace it. The outline then just needs to be filled in with paint and outlined again in black paint.

Gotham City Skyline

Another superhero mural idea is to paint the Gotham City skyline along one of the walls. The skyline can be as simple as painting a series of tall rectangles in varying heights. A picture of the bat signal shining up into the sky is a key component to this mural idea. If you aren't comfortable painting the mural yourself, look for a local muralist or art student to paint it for you.

Bedding

You'll find several options on the market in superhero bedding sets. If your child has a particular hero he is especially fond of, a bedding set depicting the character is a good choice. The other option is to go with plain bedding in one of the colors from the room's color scheme. Add a few superhero pillows to connect the bed to the room theme.

Curtains

You'll have several options for curtains in the superhero theme room. Many superhero bedding sets also offer coordinating curtains. This is the easiest option, and you'll know the two will coordinate. If you want to make your own curtains, look for superhero fabric at the local craft store. You can hem the edges to make simple panels for the windows. A third option is to choose plain curtains in a color that coordinates with the other decor. You can either leave them plain or dress them up with superhero patches.

Batcave

If the bedroom includes a walk-in closet, turn it into Batman's batcave. A coat of paint to the outside of the door with the bat signal on it gives a clue to the closet's secret identity. Inside the closet, a cave-like paint job makes the closet resemble the batcave. Paint on images of the computers and high-tech gadgets in Batman's hideout to complete the look.
