Instructions For Sewing Bedroom Curtains

Add simple sheer curtains to bedroom windows to create a soothing atmosphere.

Billowy curtains gently blowing in a bedroom window breeze create a serene picture and soothe the mind and spirit. The right window treatment can change how you feel about spending time in your bedroom. Department stores as well as specialty bed and bath stores offer vivid color, style and fabric combinations that can please anyone. While an endless array of gorgeous window treatments are available, many bedroom curtains are overpriced and can actually be made quite cheaply at home. Follow a few simple steps and you can create the perfect focal point for your bedroom and save money at the same time.

Instructions

1.

Select a sheer fabric for this simple set of bedroom curtains. Window Treatments for Every Room, published by Better Homes and Gardens, states that bedrooms should be reserved for rest and rejuvenation. Sheer curtains create a sense of tranquility and refuge.

2. Sheer fabrics come in a wide variety of colors.

Choose colors that coordinate well with the walls and furniture in the room. Purchase enough material to cover 1 and 1/2 times the length of the curtain rod that you have chosen for this floor-length window treatment.

3. Trim the fabric along a straight thread along the bottom edge. Carefully turn up a 2-inch double hem and press flat.

4. Turn over a 2-inch double hem along the two side edges as well as the top edge. Be sure that all the corners are perfectly square. Press the hems flat.

5. Press the entire curtain to remove any wrinkles. Space the curtain clips evenly across the top edge and hang the finished window treatment.
