Level A Pedestal Bathroom Sink For Installation

A level pedestal sink will not allow water to slosh out one side or the other.

The installation of a pedestal sink requires some different steps from installing a sink that sits on a cabinet, including leveling the sink prior to installing it. The sink sits freely on the pedestal, allowing you to position the sink as needed, since some bathroom floors may not sit completely level. Leveling the sink will prevent water from sloshing out of one end later. Once you have leveled the sink, you must mark the location of the mounting holes so you can drill guide holes and install anchors through the sink and wall.

Instructions

1. Mark the center of the pedestal on the front of the base, using painter's tape as guide. Place the sink's pedestal on the floor, lining up the center of the pedestal with the drainpipe in the floor.

2. Place peel-and-stick foam or rubber pads on the lips of the sink pedestal. Lower the sink slowly and carefully onto the pedestal, and slightly push on one side of the sink to verify that the pads will keep the sink from moving easily.

3. Place a large level across the top of the sink. Move the sink to one side or the other until the level confirms that the sink is sitting level.

4. Use a pencil to mark the location of the sink's mounting holes on the wall.
