Your definition of cool and your teenager's definition of cool are likely very different. So it is important to take into consideration cool bedroom ideas for teenagers. Victorian Princess
Your teenage daughter may be over Snow White and Cinderella, but that doesn't mean she doesn't want to feel like a princess anymore. Consider creating a beautiful Victorian room with shades of pale pink, pale green and cream. Use flower designs, but sparingly, for her bed and curtains. Hang a glass chandelier instead of a traditional light fixture or ceiling fan. Remember to include lots of pillows. Your teenage daughter will feel like a beautiful princess in this cool bedroom.
Vintage Sports
If your son loves sports, then a vintage sports room is the way to go. Use dark woods and big furniture for the bed, dresser, desk and entertainment center. Use dark colors such as navy and forest green along with cream accents. Add a big comfy chair or two for video game playing. On the walls and as accessories, get framed prints of famous sports players. Hang an old jersey in a shadow box frame. Get him a shelf to put baseballs, golf balls or hockey pucks on display. In the end, it will feel like a sports bar but without the alcohol, and your teenage son will think it is cool enough to bring his friends over.
Do it Yourself
Do it yourself (DIY) is a great way to get your child involved. Let your teenager paint her own room with her friends. Of course, you have veto power on everything. Lay down drop cloths to protect the floors, but otherwise give her free reign. She may end up with a beautiful mural, some modern art, traditional paint or even splatter art, but it will be hers. Take those colors she has chosen and buy fabrics to let her sew her own pillows and curtains if she is crafty. A DIY project is a very cool idea for a teenager's bedroom.
