Ideas For Making A Girl'S Princess Theme Bedroom

Little princess

A princess room is a dream for many young girls---and their mothers. Nothing says "girlie" more than a room dressed up in pink ribbons and gossamer, and it can make any little girl giggle with delight as she heads to bed. Putting a room like this together can be a pricey endeavor, but there are plenty of ways to save and still create a special space your little princess will love.

Walls

Murals are a quick and easy way to develop a princess theme in your girl's room. Either wallpaper or peel-and-stick, princess-themed murals are available in both "storybook illustration" style or in Disney character and animation style. You can select a castle view or a view from the window of a castle to add depth to your room, or for young girls use a Disney princess border or Disney princess castle mural in pinks and blues. Use your mural behind or next to a bed, or along an open wall.

Bed

No princess room would be complete without a fantastic bed. If you can afford a new bed frame, select a glamorous metal or wood canopy bed with lots of scrolls and details. A fancy headboard can make your princess feel royal, so look for something with a regal style to it. You can purchase bed frames specifically for a princess bedroom online or at your furniture showroom.

No matter what the bed frame is or isn't, you can enhance your princess room with pink bedding. Use a frilly bed-skirt and a heavily embroidered pink comforter to make the bed look rich, or use pink linens and a white lace-like throw or blanket on top. One pillow won't be enough, so pile them high in pinks, golds and whites. For younger girls use Disney-themed sheets and pillowcases for extra fun.

Seating

Create a throne-like chair for your little princess to use near a white desk or alongside the bed. Purchase a special princess novelty chair online or make one yourself by taking a plain wooden high-back chair and spray painting it white. Hot glue a frilly skirt of gathered pink netting around the seat and use a plush pink pillow on the seat and back. Trim in gold paint on the armrests and along the back for added glitz.

Accessories

Princess-themed accessories abound and you can dress up a white side table, dresser or desk with princess-themed table lamps, mirrors and wall art. Make it yourself by hot gluing a princess doll to a plain table lamp and decorating a wall mirror with gold paint and ribbons. Frame up a Disney princess poster for a bare wall and your room is complete.
