Decorate A Dining Room With Pink

Liven up your dining room by adding pink accents.

You can brighten up your dining room with the color pink but saturating the room with pink walls or large pieces would be too overwhelming. Pink is best used in a dining room as part of your overall color scheme. Used as an accent color, it can create a calm, welcoming ambiance.

Instructions

1. Choose a color scheme and style for your dining room. For example, a country cottage look might include light pink with light green and floral or plaid patterns or a contemporary style might include a brighter pink with white or cream and chocolate brown.

2. Paint the walls a soft white or cream. Use light pink on window or floorboard trim. Pale pink floral, damask or striped wallpaper on one wall can establish the color scheme without being overwhelming.

3. Use a pink-patterned fabric to cover the chairs or paint an old wooden table pale pink if your walls are white or another neutral color.

4. Hang artwork, paintings or pictures that incorporate pink in their designs. Use natural wood, white, black or chocolate-brown frames.

5. Set the table with a pink tablecloth, runner, place mats, chargers or dishes. Mix different patterns, such as a solid pink tablecloth with a floral runner and scrolling designs on the dishes, if they contain the same shade of pink. White dishes will stand out against a pink tablecloth or charger, just as pink dishes will add color to a neutral-colored tablecloth.

6. Add a centerpiece that complements the rest of the room. Pink roses, daisies or peonies can dress up a plain white or black vase or white candles can sit in a bed of pink silk flower petals.

7. Accessorize with touches of pink. For example, add a lamp with a pink lampshade to the buffet or hang a chandelier with small pink lampshades or pink crystals. A silk cherry blossom tree could occupy a corner of the room.
