Diy Bedroom Ideas

Serene and Minimalistic Bedroom

Personalizing your bedroom should be a personal experience. How personal can you really get when the only investment you've made in your bedroom is a monetary investment? Get personal with your space and invest your time, creativity and a little elbow grease to get a custom look that you can take credit for. With just a few dollars, a trip to your local Walmart for supplies and some elbow grease, you too can have the DIY bedroom of your dreams.

Jewelry Shadowbox

You've likely spent thousands of dollars over the years on your jewelry collection, so why not show off your favorite pieces? Create a jewelry shadowbox using a deep-set picture frame, wallpaper and small decorative hooks. Start by sticking the wallpaper to the back of the picture frame. Next, install the small decorative hooks to the wallpapered piece. Then simply put the picture frame back together, leaving out the glass and slide your jewelry onto the hook.

Frame Your Bed

Many people think that their headboard is enough to frame their bed, and that may be true for some. But, if you really want to make your bed look grand, framing it with three small and inexpensive pieces of artwork will make a world of a difference. You'll need patterned wrapping paper that coordinates with your current color scheme and three photo frames in the same finish as your furniture. Cut three pieces of wrapping paper and place them inside the photo frames. Then, hang the frames side by side approximately 1 to 2 feet above your headboard; the frames should be centered above the headboard. And that's all it takes, in less than 10 minutes you've just given your bed a major face lift.

Throw Pillow

Throw pillows are an inexpensive and easy way to bring a pop of color into your bedroom, especially for renters who aren't allowed to paint. Don't spend $30 on a single throw pillow when you can make a customized throw pillow at home for much less. You'll need a pillow insert, a sewing machine and fabric. Start by cutting the fabric to fit your pillow, remember to include a seam allowance. Then fold over a ¼-inch hem on both long sides, press with an iron and sew with a single stitch. Fold fabric in half lengthwise and sew together; there should be only one opening large enough to insert the pillow when you're done sewing. Then, simply insert the pillow and place it on your bed.
