Tween Boy Bedroom
The best thing you can do for a tween boy trying to decorate his bedroom is play referee. Let him decide what he wants, but be prepared to call foul for things that either make no practical sense or will cost too much. The tween's room will reflect his growing and changing interests. He will likely want it to look like a place he can call his own. Don't expect your vision and his to mesh.
Instructions
1. Insist on a comfortable chair so the boy can have a good place to sit and study. Some tween boys might even opt for a futon that can be used as a couch and a bed. Get the boy to pick out the basic wood styles for his bed and dresser, and get a chair to match that style.
2. Common favorite colors for boys are blue and black. Solid bedding colors and curtains go over well with this age group. A tween is not as likely as a little boy to want a themed decor unless he's already devoted to a sports or music hero. The choice is up to him, but remind him that he may have to live with any color or design for several years.
3. The boy will also need or want a desk and storage shelves. Get some to match the basic look of the furniture. If he wants to put something on the walls, try to steer him to artworks or posters that can be removed when his tastes inevitably change in a few years.
4. Leave some empty space in the room. Most tweens start gathering "things" that will need to be stored in the room. These things could include collections, craft projects, extra computer space or a musical instrument.
