Neutral wall colors are the basis of a gender unbiased bedroom.
Gender neutral bedrooms are ideal if you have children of different genders who share the same room, or if you plan on having more children but don't want to have to repaint the room if you have a child of the opposite sex. There are several ways to decorate a kids' room in a gender neutral fashion.
Instructions
1. Paint the walls a gender neutral color. Shades of white, cream, beige, green, yellow, red and tan are among the suitable choices. Pink should be avoided as it's traditionally a feminine color, but pale or pastel blues can work for girls as well as boys.
2. Pick out a gender unbiased decorating theme, such as space, the sea or an animal-based design.
3. Choose furniture made from unpainted wood or metal, or painted in neutral colors like white or cream. Avoid overly ornate, carved furniture, as it may seem feminine. Stick to modern furnishings with clean, straight lines.
4. Use patterns, such as stripes and polka dots, to add interest to a more plain, gender neutral room. Either paint these patterns on the walls or buy patterned curtains, throw pillows, comforters or bed clothes.
