Recover Vinyl Dining Chairs

Recover Vinyl Dining Chairs

Vinyl is an extremely durable and versatile material that's ideal for covering the seats on your dining room chairs. For families with pets or small children, recovering seat cushions with vinyl is a great way to protect furniture from stains. Because vinyl is a plastic-coated fabric, it's also easy to clean. You can easily recover your dining chairs with vinyl in an afternoon.

Instructions

1. Remove the seats from your dining chairs. Turn the chair upside down and unscrew the cushion from the chair frame. Lay the cushions face down on a flat surface and measure all four sides. Add 4 inches to 6 inches to each measurement. Repeat for all your dining room chairs.

2. Lay the vinyl face down on a flat work surface. Mark the measurements directly onto the vinyl with the fabric pen. Cut along the measurements. Repeat this step until you have enough cut-outs for each chair.

3. Place one cut-out of vinyl face down on a flat surface. Lay one seat cushion upside down on top of the vinyl. Fold one side of the vinyl over the edge of the cushion and staple it to the base of the cushion. Pull the vinyl toward the opposite side of the cushion, making it sure it's taut. Wrap the vinyl around the edge of the cushion. Be sure to smooth out any wrinkles before stapling the vinyl. Repeat this process for the two remaining sides of the cushion.

4. Carefully fold any loose fabric at each of the four corners on the cushion so that the fabric lies flat and staple. Trim any excess fabric from the corners and edges.

5. Repeat steps three and four for each cushion. Reattach the cushions to the chair frame.
