Crazy Bathroom Paint Ideas

Consider bright paint colors as opposed to neutral, boring colors.

Too often people create the same boring paint looks in their bathroom as everyone else in their neighborhood. While white paint has its role in home design, you may prefer crazy paint ideas instead. This is especially good for second bathrooms in finished basements or family rooms. Remember that any bathroom paint should be glossy rather than matte to help with moisture protection.

Colors

Go crazy with the colors that you choose for paint. Rather than keeping the walls white and the trim a light pastel color, don't be afraid to go for bright bold colors. Consider the theme of the rest of the bathroom. If you have white towels, you could pull off a bold look by painting the walls black or dark gray.

To put a bit of your own personality into the bathroom, paint the walls with your favorite colors. If you like pink, paint the walls a deep, warm pink color and keep the trim a pastel pink for contrast. Then again, go even crazier and use a rainbow of colors to paint each aspect of the room. Paint one wall green and one wall yellow. Paint the trim in alternating colors of red and orange. Don't forget the ceiling, as you can add a bold color to that as well.

Patterns

Leopard print will turn a drag bathroom into something crazy.

Fun patterns can add a lot of personality to your bathroom walls. For a sexy, sophisticated look, paint your walls with a leopard print pattern using shades of black, brown, yellow and orange. If you like zebra print, utilize black and white paint to recreate this pattern on your bathroom walls.

Print out pictures of your favorite pattern, whether stripes or polka dots, and keep it with you as you paint. This way you keep a reminder of how it should look so the end result is just how you imagined it would be. Use painter's tape to create straight lines if that's a part of your design.

Murals

If you or anyone you know has exceptional artistic talent, consider creating a painted mural on your bathroom walls. If you like the old-world look of the columns and architecture of Italy, create an Italian garden scene on your walls. Not only will this make your bathroom walls look crazy and interesting, it will also make a small bathroom feel larger.

For children's bathrooms, consider painting a mural of your child's favorite things. For those who like the circus, paint a mural of a circus scene complete with elephants, clowns and acrobats. For a daughter who likes girly things, paint the walls with butterflies, flowers and fairies.
