Protect Your Wooden Dining Room Table

Protect Your Wooden Dining Room Table

A wooden dining room table enhances a room and complements any type of decor. A long, sleek, black-stained wooden dining room table gives a contemporary feel, while an oak or pine dining room table might blend with country decor. Whatever type of wooden dining room table you own, regular polishing with furniture polish, for example, is excellent for keeping the wood conditioned. For everyday use, purchase dining room table pads, typically 1/2-inch thick with one side soft velvet or felt and the other side textured leather. These pads protect your wooden dining room tables from hot or cold dishes, spills, moisture and dents should you happen to drop a heavy serving dish.

Instructions

1. Measure the length and width of your wooden dining room table and note this on paper.

2. Order a set of pads on the Internet or purchase them from the retailer or manufacturer that sold you the table (if you don't already own a set).

3. Spread out the first table pad across one end of the wooden table with the velvet or felt side facing down. Repeat until all the pads are lined up across the table. You should have a pair of dining room table pads with rounded edges for each end, while the remainder will have squared off edges and go in between the rounded pair.

4. Spread a tablecloth over the pads to hide them and don't worry about putting hot dishes directly onto the table.
