Latch A Bedroom Door

The push button lock is one way to latch a door.

Most people want to latch their bedroom door to add privacy. Latching a door is easy if you have a locking doorknob. There are three types of locking doorknobs. One uses a key to turn the lock and latch the door. The second type has a push button and the third has a turn button. Each type of lock is easy to use and will ensure that the door is latched.

Instructions

1. Insert the key into the hole in the center of the knob. It should slide in easily; do not force it. If it does not go in, turn the key over and try again. Rotate the key clockwise and remove it.

2. Close the door and use your finger to push the button, in the center of the doorknob, all the way in. Release your finger. The button will stay pushed in and the door is latched.

3. Close the door and grasp the turning button between your thumb and pointer finger. Turn the button clockwise to latch the door.
