Build A Dining Room Chair

These classic chairs are easy to build and elegant.

Decorating your home should be fun and easy, especially your dining room. Select a dining room chair that will live with you for the long haul. For example, classic wood pieces withstand trends, fit everyone's style, and last a lifetime. Wood pieces like a dining room chair are also easy to build.

Instructions

1. Identify the hardware. Inspect the unassembled components of your new dining room chair. Do not use the chair if any part appears damaged, broken or missing.

2. Select an area where you can spread out your materials and keep all pieces away from small children and animals. Make sure your area is clean.

3. Attach the seat frame to the back frame. Lay the back frame on its back, and place the seat frame in a sitting position (facing upward). Depending upon your chair, there may be three or four holes in the back of the seat frame. Using a flat washer, a lock washer, and a short hex bolt (in this order) for each hole, bolt the seat frame to the back frame. Keep in mind that the lock washer should always be next to the bolt head.

4. Tighten the bolts using a key wrench. Make sure they are tight as possible

5. Attach the front legs. Place both front legs in position, directing all four bolts (two for each leg) through the holes in the seat frame. Using the flat washer, a lock washer, and a nut (in that order), loosely secure all four bolts on the front legs onto the seat frame. Do not tighten these nuts all the way.

6. Level the chair. Place the chair upright and gently press down on the seat to level the chair. This will make sure your new chair does not wobble.

7. Tighten all nuts and bolts with the key wrench. At this point, everything should be as tight as possible.
