Decorate your twins' bedroom in the same color scheme, but with slightly different designs.
You'll be welcoming two bundles of joy soon -- which means you'll need double the decorative supplies for the babies' room. There are several ways to adorn the nursery that will give each half of the room a distinctive flair that represents each of your children, while keeping the decor theme consistent. For instance, a variety of pastel shades is fitting for a nursery for twins of the opposite sex, while personalized themed accents in the same colors are appropriate for identical or same-sex twins.
Instructions
1. Paint the walls of the twins' nursery one main color.
2. Accent each of the side walls with images that will give the room character. For instance, if you've chosen a black and white theme for the babies' room, paint one side wall with black and white stripes, and the wall on the other side with polka dots in the same colors. Use stencils to paint the initial of each baby's name on either wall -- paint one letter in black and the other in white. This gives the room a uniform feel without making the designs identical. If your opposite-sex twins will share a nursery and the room has a pastel decor theme, paint one accent wall in a light pink or yellow for your daughter, and adorn the other side in soft green or pink for your son.
3. Purchase identical cribs for the nursery, but decorate them slightly differently. For instance, if pink and purple are the main colors in the decor scheme and paisley and polka dots are the prominent designs, paint one crib purple, and the other pink. Choose paisley crib pillows, sheet and crib pads for one of your baby girls' beds, and polka dot bedding for the remaining crib.
4. Choose area rugs that represent
5. Position the dresser in between the two cribs. Paint the dresser to represent both babies, by painting each child's name or initial on either side of the dresser. Adorn the dresser drawers with decals that feature the decor theme, such as images of baby farm animals, hearts, stars or jungle creatures.
6. Place a toy box in the nursery; paint the furniture piece to match the room's hues, or choose a toy box in a neutral shade like rich brown, black or white as a finishing touch for the nursery. Add wall decals to the toy box so that the twins know the furniture piece is for the two of them to share. Place letter decals that spell each baby's name on either side of the toy box.
