Arrange Furniture In A Kid'S Bedroom

When rearranging your child's bedroom, there are ways to arrange the furniture to improve the safety of his room. Kids can get hurt in situations that adults would avoid. Besides making sure there are no sharp corners in his bedroom, your child should have the best living situation without any danger. This involves hiding outlets, moving furniture away from the head of the bed and leaving a large amount of floor space.

Instructions

1. Keep space in between beds if more than one child is sleeping in the same room. Keep a distance of at least 3 feet between them. Aim to position the beds on opposite walls. This will help your kids avoid bumping into each other or stepping on the other if they have to get up in the middle of the night.

2. Move bed stands away from the head of the bed, especially if they have sharp corners. Children are prone to falling out of bed while they sleep. Avoid injury with this arrangement. Instead, keep the bed stand within arm's reach from the bed, leaving about 2 feet of space between.

3. Provide an adequate area for play. Children younger than 12 like to play with their toys on the floor. Make sure they can lie out on their stomach and still have room to play. An area of 6 square feet works perfectly for this.

4. Keep toy storage near the play area but away from the head of the bed. Toy trunks work well at the foot of the bed. Use a sturdy trunk that won't tip over while your child is leaning inside to find her toys.

5. Create a floor plan that moves large furniture, such as beds and dressers, in front of wall electricity outlets. This will keep the sockets out of reach from your child.
