Make A Romantic Blue & Brown Bedroom On A Budget

You don't have to spend a lot of money to create a stylish blue and brown bedroom.

A bedroom is a secret haven to some people, so it isn't any wonder they would want it to be inviting and comfortable. Decorating a bedroom on a budget can be quite easy when you have the right idea of where to start. You can create your own romantic blue and brown bedroom on a budget by following a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Choose your bedding. The bed is the first thing we usually notice when entering a bedroom. No matter what size the room is, the bed is pretty much the main focal point. When it comes to decorating, it is best to start with the bedding and then branch out from there based on the bedding colors. You might consider purchasing a duvet cover or bed-in-a-bag set to offset the pricey cost of buying bedding pieces separately.

2. Choose your paint. Depending on the size of your bedroom you won't likely need to spend much in the way of purchasing paint. If you have a large room you could probably get away with using a dark color for the walls, but if you go with a light or neutral color, like a cream color, your room will seem much bigger. Use a picture of your bedding to find matching paint colors for your walls. Take the paint swatches home with you and hold up to your wall as well as your bedding to see if they coordinate well.

3. Recycle your current furniture. If you have a dresser that wouldn't match a blue and brown themed bedroom, you might consider making it do so. If your furniture is a light color, you could stain it darker to match your decor. You can either visit your local hardware store to get stain swatches to match to your bedding or take a picture of your bedding to the store. You may not be able to get a direct match but you should be able to get close.

4. Choose your curtains. Curtains can be tough to find when you're on a budget. You should consider all the alternatives. Depending on the type of fabric you like, you could visit your local retail store and price the fabrics they currently carry. Before you do so, measure your window and take the measurements with you. This way you can get quotes on the fabrics you find that you like and believe will match. This may be more expensive so make sure you check out all your options.

5. Keep it simple. You can easily create a romantic blue and brown bedroom by only adding a few things and removing others. Try not to buy a whole bunch of items in the same colors and spread them around the room. You want it to be romantic, not crowded. Buy a duvet cover or new bedding, have a coordinating piece of furniture and then add a romantic tough. Maybe a portrait that compliments your blue and brown color, a vase or even a rug. Less tends to be more in redecorating.

6. Visit your local thrift stores and consignment shops. These are two great places to find awesome bargains, especially when it comes to redecorating. Many people will take items they no longer want to these stores because it's convenient for them. Their loss is your gain and remember when browsing these items, you can easily turn one thing into something else. If you see a picture frame you absolutely love but wouldn't match the colors of your room, ask yourself if you can paint it. If so, you have a bargain.
