Ideas For Children'S Bedrooms

Incorporate items into your chidren's bedroom that are both decorative and useful.

When remodeling or decorating your children's bedroom, incorporate one-of-a-kind items within the room. This will ensure that your children's room contains personalized items. When deciding on what to use in the bedroom, take into consideration the ages of your children.

Chalkboard Walls

Let your children's creative juices flow by decorating with chalkboard stripes on the bedroom walls. HGTV suggests to put a wide chalkboard strip on all four walls in your children's bedroom. Watch as your children write ABCs, numbers and doodles on the walls. You may also apply the chalkboard idea to other items in your children's room. For example, write on chalkboard lamps and leave a good-night message for your children to read before they fall asleep.

Message Board

Imagine having a designated area to leave your children love notes. Create a one-of-a-kind message board for use in their bedroom. Simply purchase a cork board and cover with fabric of your choice. Hang it in their bedroom. This will ensure that you have a special place to leave messages for them. Your children can use this board to tack up schedules, games or posters for other special events.

Soup Cans

If your children love creating art projects, save your heavy-duty soup cans to create a personalized board to hold art items. Simply hot-glue magnets onto the back of clean, dry soup cans. Make sure to peel off the labels. Purchase a steel cookie sheet and attach the soup cans to the sheet. Label each can for color crayons, pencils, chalk, markers and other supplies. Hang the art board in an easily reachable place in their room. This is a creative way to encourage your children to put away their art supplies.

Space Divider

If you have children sharing a bedroom and each child wants an individual space, try using a tall bookshelf as a divider. Paint the backing of the bookshelf to match the room décor. Both the backside and the front side of the bookshelf may be painted a different color. This will ensure that each child will have the opportunity to match the divider to her side of the bedroom. Arrange the bookshelf to guarantee privacy for each child in the room. You may wish to incorporate more than one bookshelf in the bedroom as well.
