Make A Bedroom Door

Create a bead and blanket door.

A bedroom door does not have to be made of solid wood to give the room's occupant a feeling of privacy. Strands of beads can make a decorative door for your child's or your own bedroom. Use the bead strands alone or add a blanket to protect against drafts and for more privacy. The materials are relatively inexpensive, and the process takes only about one to two hours.

Instructions

Doorway Preparation

1. Measure the top inside of the doorway and evenly screw in the C-hooks so that the openings are facing one direction.

2. Measure from the top inside of the doorway to about an inch or so above the floor. Cut the bead wires to this measurement with scissors.

3. Knot the end of each wire and string the beads in any pattern you like. When you are finished stringing the beads, knot the top of the wire and form a loop at the top.

4. Hang each bead strand on a C-hook in the doorway.

Blanket Preparation

5. Use the measurements you took in Section 1 to size the blanket. You can either cut the blanket or hem it to fit.

6. If using a blanket with fringe in evenly spaced intervals, tie the fringe together and hang the knots from the C-hooks.

7. If the blanket does not have fringe, cut small, evenly spaced holes and hang the blanket on the C-hooks.

8. To create an option for keeping the blanket and bead door open, screw another C-hook into the one side of the door frame. String a shorter bead wire with beads, attach it to the C-hook and loop it around the beads and blanket to hold them to one side.
