Add a few items to your bathroom to bring the spa experience to you.
Candles, essential oils and luxurious towels are all elements that you can incorporate into your bathroom decor to create a relaxing spa atmosphere. You do not have to spend a lot of money on spa treatments. Instead, use what you would have spent on a few spa treatments on transforming your bathroom into your own personal spa. The transformation will not require major demolition or renovations, but just a few spa-inspired items.
Scents
For a relaxing atmosphere, incorporate aromatherapy into your bathroom. Aromatherapy uses plant oils to relieve stress and anxiety. Lavender's sweet smell is believed to promote relaxation. The sweet, floral scent of ylang ylang can also have a calming effect. Add a few drops of Lavender and ylang ylang to bathwater or make your own potpourri with the dried blossoms to fill your bathroom with soothing scents.
Flowers
Bring a little bit of nature indoors. Keep fresh flowers in your bathroom in vases. Use fake flowers if you do not want to change the flowers often. Fill the vases with rocks for a more natural look. Potpourri also makes for an alternative to flower arrangement. Choose potpourri in a color that matches your bathroom and place in a small vase or wicker basket. The natural texture of the basket is similar to what is used in some spas.
Sound
Place an MP3 or CD player in your bathroom. Download songs to your MP3 player or purchase a CD of ambient sounds or any music you find soothing. You can also add a portable waterfall into your bathroom. Select a waterfall with a more natural look similar to what you would find in a spa. The soothing noises can help you relax as you take a long soak in your bathtub.
